The Art Of Levitation
A wonderful live music event for both acoustic and classical guitar lovers, featuring Richard’s original, haunting guitar music, including his newly released track “The Art of Levitation”.
In celebration of his fourth decade as an independent soloist, Richard presents his 2026 tour: The Art of Levitation.
“Music and the arts have helped me navigate my journey through life — and my guitar has been my lifelong companion.” - Richard
The 2026 tour revisits many communities that have supported Durrant over the decades, offering intimate, high-quality live experiences in much-loved regional venues. In an era when small venues face mounting challenges, The Art of Levitation is both a celebration and a statement: live music, real spaces, transformative experience.
Indie-classical composer & concert guitarist Richard Durrant will play his own compositions and music from the High Baroque, the English Baroque and (as a fascinating homage to Renbourn, Jansch & Carthy) the English Folk Baroque.
This musician’s intriguingly unpretentious style of delivery should not belie the emotional depth of his music; combining world-class virtuosic playing with warmth, storytelling and disarming humour.
The anniversary UK tour, The Art of Levitation, runs from April to November 2026, bringing Richard’s distinctive, genre-crossing solo show to arts centres, churches, rural touring venues and festivals across England, Wales and Scotland — the very spaces that have sustained his career and built a loyal, grassroots following.
As heard live on BBC Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4 and 6 Music (featured by Cerys Matthews, Tom Robinson, Sean Rafferty & Petroc Trelawney).
