Bon Voyage!

Richard Durrant

Richard is about to set sail for a week of French Guitar Adventurers in the warm autumn sunshine of the Charente.

The peaceful and secluded venue is a converted barn attached to an old Cognac house where a group of musicians can enjoy the luxury of uninterrupted music making and guided practise as they prepare for an end of course concert in a local church.

Any pauses in the music making will doubtless be spent sampling the cuisine of The French Retreat, tasting local wines and relaxing by the open air pool.

FGA is designed to facilitate fellow guitarists spending quality time with their instrument. I’m there to observe and gently guide.

I encourage players to play standing up with a cut-away, nylon strung guitar to help develop a more relaxed, neutral approach which is less stressful on the body and allows easier access to notes. I encourage using written notation and everyone knows that TAB is banned for the week!”
